But rosé’s fashionability is no accident: this tipple is a designer drink, with a clear design brief in the late 60s and 70s. The ‘vision’ for this wine was dreamed up around a dining table in Portugal and went something like this: ‘rosé is made to be drunk young, does not improve with age, is neither red nor white, neither sweet nor dry’.
